Kiwanis Club of Mount Airy recently provided its annual education donation to the Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers of Twin Ridge Elementary School (TRES), Mount Airy.
The funds will be used to purchase instructional materials to promote letter recognition, letter sounds, and reading.
The South Carroll Key Club visited the Brighton Woods Nursing home recently. Santa was there along with some lively BINGO games.

Paul Clay and Beth Jacobs of the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Airy presented State Police Corporal George Noyes, Mt. Airy Resident Trooper Liaison, over 100 teddy bears. The bears will be on patrol with the Mt. Airy Resident Troopers and given to children who are in distress when troopers respond to calls for assistance. March 2015
May 2021 - Girl Scout Daisy Troop 2095 of Mt. Airy made a difference in their community by doing a beautification project at the Parr’s Ridge Elementary School. The troop of ten girls showed their love and pride for their school by clearing, weeding, planting, mulching, and decorating the main entrance sign, walkway planters, butterfly garden, and a bench area. The Daisies were supported by their parents and also by the generosity of the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Airy who awarded them a Scout grant for their project.

SHP IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT THAT BUILDS & DELIVERS TWIN BEDS FREE OF CHARGE TO NEEDY FAMILIES WHOSE CHILDREN AGES 4-17 ARE SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR, ON A COUCH, OR WITH THEIR PARENTS OR SIBLINGS.
THE BEDS INCLUDE ALL NEW FRAMES, MATTRESSES, BLANKETS/QUILTS, SHEET SETS, AND PILLOWS.
Working together with their in-country partners and a vast and growing group of committed volunteers, A is for Africa has contributed to the significant achievement of Matim Primary School in Arusha, Tanzania. While much has been accomplished, there is much still to be done. It takes a village – and in our case we are proud of creating a village that spans from the foothills of Arusha, Tanzania to the elementary schools and community groups of Mt. Airy, Maryland to other friends and family around the world.
